Antique & Vintage Postcards

Two Acapulco icons share one saturated chrome card: above, the kidney-shaped pool of the Condesa del Mar Hotel shimmers with sunbathers as a high-rise tower rises behind the palm-fringed bay; below, the jagged limestone cliffs of La Quebrada plunge toward the churning Pacific — the very ledge from which the famous clavadistas leaped nightly for gasping crowds gathered on the viewing platform visible at lower left. Mary and Howard sent this to their Aunt Freeda back in Lima, New York, confessing they were "ready to come back home" after a packed itinerary of sightseeing, cliff diving shows, and relentless heat.
