Postcard Chrome Teatro Juarez San Diego Temple Guanajuato Mexico 1970s

Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico1973ChromeGood

Shot from an elevated angle looking down onto Guanajuato's grand Jardín Unión, this vivid chrome card frames two of the city's most architecturally dramatic buildings in one composition: the Teatro Juárez — its neoclassical Doric colonnade topped with bronze Muses — and the ornate churrigueresque façade of the Templo de San Diego immediately beside it, while the sign of the Hotel San Diego is visible at right. A bright orange sedan and dark saloon cars parked in front date the photograph to the early-to-mid 1970s. The card was sold through — and its verso advertising printed for — the Restaurant y Miscelánea Casa Valadez at Jardín Unión No. 3, a venerable Guanajuato institution that still operates today, giving this humble souvenir an unexpectedly direct link to a living landmark. No publisher is credited beyond "Registro Artístico" and catalog number G-554, suggesting a local or regional print run.
