Postcard 1930s Nebelhorn 2223m Oberstdorf Allgäu Alps Germany RPPC Summit

Nebelhorn (2223m), Oberstdorf, Allgäu, Germany1935RPPCExcellent

From the summit of the Nebelhorn at 2,223 meters, the eye travels across a sea of snow-draped ridgelines toward the Hofats, Mädelegabel, and Biberkopf — a panorama that distills the full grandeur of the Allgäu Alps into a single sweeping frame. This genuine real-photo postcard (stamped "Echte Original-Photographie" on the reverse) was shot by J. Heimhuber of Sonthofen-Oberstdorf and carries the oval red cancellation of the Nebelhornbahn, the cable railway that first opened in 1930, helping date the card to the 1930s. A small mountain hut sits almost impossibly alone on a snowy plateau in the middle distance, dwarfed by the scale of the peaks behind it. The Nebelhornbahn cancel — applied at the mountain station — makes this a particularly evocative souvenir of early Alpine tourism infrastructure.
