Postcard Auriac Haute-Garonne France Vieux Château Windows Monument 1930s

Auriac (Auriac-sur-Vendinelle), Haute-Garonne, France1932Pre-linenGood

Warm sepia tones wash over the crumbling Renaissance façade of the Vieux Château at Auriac, a classified historical monument tucked into the Haute-Garonne department of southern France — its elegantly carved window surrounds speak to former aristocratic grandeur, while bare winter vines creep across the weathered stone walls, lending the scene a melancholy beauty that was already nostalgic when this card was printed. Auriac (today Auriac-sur-Vendinelle) is a small commune southeast of Toulouse, and the château's windows were among the few surviving elements of its Renaissance construction, making this postcard an important visual document of the building before later restoration. The card was published by Labouche frères of Toulouse under their "Pyrénées-Océan" Editions imprint, the dominant regional publisher of the era, and bears catalog number 1102. The reverse is entirely unused — clean and bright with no message or stamp.
