This is an early Undivided Back (UDB) card from The Wrench Series, number 1014, printed in Saxony to the high chromolithographic and halftone standards that made German-printed British-subject cards the gold standard of the Edwardian postcard boom. The Wrench Series, published by Evelyn Wrench — who later founded the English-Speaking Union — was one of the most distinguished early British postcard series, active from around 1900 to 1905. The back instructs that the address only be written on the right — classic pre-1902/1903 UDB convention — and specifies inland ½d and foreign 1d stamp rates, firmly dating this card to the 1901–1903 window. Unposted and uncirculated, the card displays the soft sepia tones characteristic of the finest Saxony printing of the era.
