The Cornwall International Bridge, opened in 1898, linked Ontario to the American shore at Massena, New York, and the structure shown here — with its distinctive arched top chords and sturdy cut-stone piers — remained a vital border crossing until the modern Seaway International Bridge replaced it following the St. Lawrence Seaway construction in 1958–1962.
