Antique & Vintage Postcards

Sunlight filters through ancient chestnuts and linden trees onto the manicured lawns of the Royal Garden at Prague Castle, the Renaissance elegance of the Letohrádek královny Anny — Queen Anne's Summer Palace, also known as the Belvedere — glowing warmly in the background in this rare early autochrome-tinted card published by Prague's celebrated "Minerva" fine-arts press, likely issued in the 1910s–1920s. The palace, built 1538–1563 for Queen Anne of Bohemia and Hungary, is considered the finest pure Renaissance building outside Italy, and this postcard captures its serene park setting before the upheavals of two world wars altered the city's character forever. Never mailed, the card retains its clean, unused reverse.
