Antique & Vintage Postcards

A cobblestone alley in Schömberg narrows to a vanishing point where the Baroque clock tower of the Katholische Kirche rises against a pale sky — a hauntingly intimate real-photograph postcard that transforms a small Silesian town's back lane into a study in light, shadow, and devotion, published by Breslau's A. Bröse press and distributed by local bookseller Ed Fiebig of Schömberg. Sent as a birthday greeting, the handwritten message on the reverse — "Herzliche Glückwünsche zum Geburtstag, gesandt Familie Sch…" (Heartfelt birthday wishes, sent by the family of Sch…) — and the personal dedication to "Zur Erinnerung an Schomberg" (In memory of Schömberg) speak to the deep local pride and familial warmth of a community that would be dramatically displaced in the aftermath of World War II, as Schömberg (now Chełmsko Śląskie, Poland) changed hands forever.
