Antique & Vintage Postcards

A warm amber patina glows across the dynamic fox-hunt bronze group at Berlin's Grosser Stern — Prof. W. Haverkamp's masterwork capturing a hunter mid-stride, hounds lunging at his feet, a horse rearing behind him, and a fox held triumphantly aloft — all rendered in a hand-colored lithographic view that makes the sculpture shimmer against a soft wash of green foliage and rosy sky. This card traveled from Saginaw, Michigan in June 1908, carrying a breezy note from a friend who signed only his initials — "I changed my mind, I thought I wouldn't bother this time. Best Regards from your friend W.K." — addressed to Ralph at Addison Seminary in Addison, Illinois, a Lutheran preparatory institution that trained ministers in the early twentieth century.
