Postcard 1900 Geneva Switzerland Pont du Mont-Blanc Lake View EH1

Geneva, Switzerland1901Pre-linenGood

A misty, hand-tinted panorama captures the broad sweep of the Pont du Mont-Blanc as it crosses the glassy Rhône at Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1900 — the snow-crowned Alps dissolving into the pale sky above a tidy row of Belle Époque façades, gas lamp standards marching in perfect rhythm along the bridge's iron railings, and early pedestrians no larger than pins against the grand scale of the scene. The card is catalogue number EH 1 from the prolific Geneva publisher EH (likely Edy Henri or house series), printed in a delicate lavender-green tint typical of the chromolithographic "pioneer era" before divided backs became standard — placing it firmly before 1904. The undivided back bears only the classic French legend Ce côté est exclusivement réservé à l'adresse, confirming the card was never posted; it survives in clean, unwritten condition, a pristine time-capsule of Geneva's lakefront promenade at the turn of the twentieth century.
