Antique & Vintage Postcards

From the tower of the medieval Predigerkirche, a sweeping rooftop panorama of Zürich unfolds — terracotta tiles, white stucco facades, and the dark crowns of mature linden trees receding toward the green hills of the Zürichberg, a cityscape caught at the precise moment before the automobile age would begin to reshape it. Issued by Photoglob Co. of Zürich as card no. 3258, this hand-coloured photochrome view dates to the early 1900s and preserves a neighbourhood density that feels almost medieval at street level. The Predigerkirche, a Dominican foundation of the 13th century and one of Zürich's oldest surviving ecclesiastical buildings, provided photographers of the era with an unrivalled vantage point over the Niederdorf quarter. The undivided back carries the trilingual Union Postale Universelle / Weltpostverein / Unione postale universale legend alongside the "Nur für die Adresse" (address only) instruction — classic pre-1905 Swiss formatting. Unused and well-preserved, this card is a fine document of Zürich's organic urban fabric and a desirable Photoglob production for topographic collectors.
