Postcard Westminster Abbey Night Scene London Tuck Style Art c1905 Undivided

London, England, UK1903Pre-linenGood

Gas lamps glow amber on wet cobblestones as horse-drawn carriages clatter past the illuminated west front of Westminster Abbey — this luminous nocturne, signed by artist Trefor C. Payne, transforms one of London's most familiar monuments into something genuinely mysterious and alive. The twin towers designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor rise into a swirling grey-green sky, their Gothic tracery picked out by the warm light flooding through the great west window, while the Crimea Memorial column stands sentinel to the left and a clock-faced turret anchors the middle distance. Published by S. Hildesheimer & Co. Ltd. of London and Manchester (Series No. 5293), this card dates to the Edwardian era — a period when the art postcard craze swept Britain and collectors filled albums faster than the postal service could deliver them. The undivided back (correspondence for inland use only, address to be written here) firmly places production before 1902–1907 divided-back transition, most likely 1902–1905.
