Postcard 1940s Linen Comic Humor Man Darning Socks Busy Curt Teich Era

United States1935LinenExcellent

"I Am Too Darn Busy to Write Much" — a rumpled, cigarette-dangling everyman sits on his iron bedstead in striped pajamas, squinting furiously as he attempts to darn a polka-dot sock, pin-up sketches tacked to the wall behind him in cheerful mockery. This brash linen-era comic card captures the self-deprecating humor that flourished on American humor racks through the 1930s–50s, when sending a funny postcard was a quick, cheap substitute for a proper letter. The vivid flat-color illustration, linen texture, and bold caption are hallmarks of the genre. Card code "C-33" with printer code "5A-H1581" on the lower right margin; the copyright symbol (©) appears at lower left. Unused and unaddressed, the card retains strong color saturation typical of high-quality linen stock.
