Antique & Vintage Postcards

Lush red geraniums spill across an embossed cream ground, framing a golden oval vignette of a thatched-roof country cottage reflected in still water — and beneath the blooms, a timeless good-luck sentiment: "May the best you can imagine be the worst you'll ever have." This beautifully embossed greeting card was mailed from Rockett, Ohio on June 3, 1911, sent by a woman named Annie to Mr. and Mrs. Carroll at their home on E. 71st Street in Cleveland. The densely written message on the back — penned upside-down in the margin — speaks of letters unanswered and family news, a warm domestic exchange preserved more than a century later. A one-cent Franklin green stamp carries it faithfully through the Ohio postal system.
