A magnificent bronze-and-teal tom turkey fans his tail feathers before a rustic grape-draped fence on this richly chromolithographed 1915 Thanksgiving card, the lustrous embossed finish and careful color register marking it as a product of the Stecher Lithographic Company of Rochester — a publisher whose "Stecher Quality" imprint commands consistent collector respect. Mailed November 24, 1915 from Washington, D.C. with a 1¢ Franklin stamp, the card traveled to a young woman named Alice in Poolesville, Maryland, a small historic town in Montgomery County. The verse reads: "For wealth of harvest, For basket and store, For joy and for rest / We thank Thee once more." The artist's name "Warren" appears faintly in the upper right corner of the illustration — likely the commercial artist who rendered the turkey. Series 37B. No written message beyond the address.
