Antique & Vintage Postcards

A serene Edwardian lady in a wide-brimmed hat and lavender dress feeds graceful white swans at a woodland pond, her scene set within an elegant oval vignette tied with a blue ribbon bow — the surrounding text imploring in illuminated script: "I am sending loving Greetings… don't you really think you might, in return for this Remembrance, find a little Time to Write." The acrostic hidden in the colored capitals — I, G, R, T, W — spells a gentle rebuke to a neglectful correspondent. Mailed from what appears to be Poughkeepsie, New York, to a recipient named Adasa in Liverpool, NY, and signed by "Patty," this card was sent with a message of love and good wishes. The 1-cent Franklin stamp and postmark place this firmly in the pre-WWI golden age of American postcards, when mailing a card was as natural as sending a text message.
