Postcard Captain Jack's Wharf Provincetown Cape Cod MA Chrome Unused

Provincetown, Massachusetts, USA1968ChromeExcellent

Weather-beaten shingles and salt-bleached pilings jut over a sun-drenched Cape Cod beach in this lively chrome view of Captain Jack's Wharf in Provincetown, Massachusetts — children wade at the waterline while gulls wheel overhead, and the ramshackle charm of the old fishing wharf's converted studios and galleries spills across every weathered board. Captain Jack's Wharf, one of P-town's most beloved landmarks, was a long row of artists' studios and summer rentals perched dramatically over the tidal flats of Provincetown Harbor, its eccentricity making it a magnet for writers, painters, and free spirits from the mid-20th century onward. The card was photographed and published by J. Lazarus of Hyannis, a prolific Cape Cod postcard publisher whose cards documented the Cape's character through the chrome era. The address side carries a handwritten note — "Miss Em." — suggesting the card was selected as a gift or memento for a friend or family member, though it was never mailed.
