RPPC USS Missouri Battleship Pre-WWI Real Photo Postcard c.1906-1910

At sea / USA (naval subject)1907RPPCFair

Steam curls from four tall funnels as the USS Missouri (BB-11) cuts through an open sea — a rare real-photo postcard capturing one of America's first modern pre-dreadnought battleships at the height of the Great White Fleet era. Commissioned in 1903, the Missouri was a Maine-class battleship notorious for a catastrophic 1904 turret explosion that killed 31 men; she was later used as a training ship before being scrapped in 1922. The sepia photograph is printed directly on postcard stock, with the caption label pasted at the lower margin reading U.S.S. "Missouri" Battleship. The undivided-back style — "Correspondence" and "Address" printed separately — and the distinctive "AZO" stamp box with triangle indicators (pointing up and down, consistent with 1904–1918 production) date this to the early RPPC period, making it a compelling artifact of the pre-WWI U.S. Navy.
