Antique & Vintage Postcards

In a sweeping arc of bronze muscle and tenderness, a man lifts a woman who curls into his chest — her legs swinging free, his stance wide and certain — one of Gustav Vigeland's most immediately recognizable Frogner Park compositions, here photographed in deep, velvety black and white against a sky of towering cumulus and a soft background of Oslo parkland foliage. The publisher's credit on the reverse reads "Eberh. B. Oppi Kunstforlag, Oslo," placing this in the distinguished Oppi fine-art postcard catalog that distributed high-quality photographic cards of Norwegian art and scenery throughout the mid-twentieth century; the photographer's cursive "Oppo" credit appears on the card face, consistent with the house style of Eberhard B. Oppi's imprint.
