Postcard 1907 Egypt Pyramids Giza Arab Village Camel Nile Real Photo Cairo

Giza / Cairo, Egypt1907Pre-linenFair-Good

At the golden hour of a long-ago Egyptian evening, a turbaned rider astride a loaded camel pauses beside a flowing waterway while a companion stands close — and beyond them, framed by ancient sycamore figs, the unmistakable silhouettes of the Great Pyramids of Giza rise against a coral and amber sky in this exquisite 1907 hand-tinted real-photograph postcard titled Village arabe et pyramides pris de l'avenue. Published by the prestigious Cairo house of Max H. Rudmann (Au Cartosport), this card exemplifies the refined Orientalist postcard tradition of Edwardian Egypt, blending documentary photography with romantic colorization. It was mailed January 1, 1907 — a New Year's greeting — from an uncle named Paul to Hauptmann Tonin Venerondi in Vienna, Austria, bearing a Union Postale Universelle Egypt stamp now missing (stamp torn away, leaving a ghost residue), the message reading simply "Beste Grüßen / Onkel Paul" (Best greetings, Uncle Paul).
