Antique & Vintage Postcards

Before the devastating 2019 fire, Notre-Dame de Paris stood in timeless Gothic authority on the Île de la Cité, and this mid-century real-photo postcard by the celebrated Parisian art publisher "Guy" (Éditions d'Art Guy, house of André Lecomte) captures its west façade in lustrous black-and-white at the height of postwar tourism. Vintage Citroëns and a Renault bus cluster at the cathedral's feet, dating the image precisely to the early-to-mid 1950s — a poignant street scene as much as an architectural portrait. The great rose window, the Gallery of Kings, and the twin towers of a cathedral built between 1163 and 1260 dominate the frame with quiet grandeur. Printed on heavy deckle-edged stock with Guy's signature in the lower right corner, this unused card carries catalog number 723 from the "Paris et ses Merveilles" series — a widely distributed but always visually distinguished line beloved by collectors of French photographic postcards.
