Antique & Vintage Postcards

Four black-and-white photographs arranged in a neat grid transport the viewer to the alpine health resort of Puchberg am Schneeberg in Lower Austria: a church steeple and castle ruin nestle beneath snow-dusted peaks, a geyser-like fountain erupts in a forest pond, a chairlift climbs into mountain mist, and a cascade of white water thunders down a rocky gorge — the Wasserfallsteig, a beloved local trail. The card was sent in August 1953 from a guest at the Hotel Schwabenhof (run by an Ing. L. Schröpfl) to a Frau Stejchar at Loquaiplatz 12, Wien VI — the address of Gebr. Thiel A.G., suggesting she was an employee receiving holiday greetings from a colleague or acquaintance. The postmark reads 8.8.53 and the Austrian costume stamp adds a period charm.
