Antique & Vintage Postcards

Mailed on a rainy May afternoon in 1951 — the sender simply notes "5-27-51 – Rain. Hereturing. Gradou" — this vivid chrome-era multiview souvenir card sweeps across the glamorous Côte d'Azur, presenting Monte-Carlo's harbor from the air, the Casino de Monte-Carlo framed by its famous gardens, the Prince's Palace, and two breathtaking coastal panoramas, all stitched together under the elegant script "Souvenir de Monte-Carlo, Monaco." Postmarked from Cannes with a bold bilingual slogan cancel reading "Cannes – Ville des Fleurs – Sports Élégants," the card was addressed to Mr. and Mrs. M. Roy at 112 Comstock St., Rochester 20, New York, U.S.A. — a detail that anchors a real postwar traveler's holiday on the Riviera, sent home to family stateside. Published by Éditions Rella, Nice, as part of their "La Côte d'Azur" collection, number 2858, with "Fabrication Française" noted on the verso. A charming, fully travelled mid-century chrome.
