Antique & Vintage Postcards

Rising above the manicured lawns and iron fencing of early-twentieth-century Fort Worth, the First Christian Church cuts a stately Gothic silhouette in this hand-colored lithographic view — its crenellated corner tower bristling with finials, arched stained-glass windows glowing amber, and Virginia creeper softening the cut-limestone façade. The warm peach-and-gold palette of the sunset sky behind the building was a hallmark of the Edwardian-era postcard boom, when American cities rushed to document their finest new civic and religious architecture. The reverse follows the classic divided-back format of the 1907–1915 "golden age" of postcards, with the Troy Wholesale Post Card Co. of El Paso, Texas named as publisher — a regional distributor serving the Southwest. The card has been mailed and shows honest age wear consistent with over a century of handling.
