Postcard 1934 Los Flamingos Hotel Acapulco Mexico Used Pair Sent to Texas

Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico1934Pre-linenGood

Two matching hotel stationery postcards — each bearing the bold red-ink flamingo logo of the legendary Hotel Los Flamingos in Acapulco — were mailed on June 7 (year ca. 1934, per stamp) by a traveler named Geo to a Mrs. and Mr. Wenn at 612 Monticello Court, San Antonio, Texas, offering glimpses of paradise: one card captioned "View from our cottage", the other "View of Hotel from Pacific." The picture sides show Los Flamingos perched dramatically on a jungle-clad Pacific headland, its white modernist bungalows tumbling down rocky cliffs to the surf — a view still recognizable today, as the hotel famously hosted John Wayne, Johnny Weissmuller, and other Hollywood luminaries in the 1950s. The stamp is a Mexican 4-centavo commemorative of the 1926–1934 series, postmarked at Acapulco (Guerrero). These two companion cards, mailed together to the same address, constitute a rare matched correspondence set from one of Mexico's most iconic resort properties in its earliest operating years.
