Postcard 1910s Leicester Square London Color Litho National Series Unused

London, England1912Pre-linenGood

A hand-coloured lithograph bathes Edwardian Leicester Square in pale spring light — bare plane trees frame a tidy oval garden with a central fountain, while the street below is lined with early motor taxis and horse-drawn carriages. The Alhambra Theatre's ornate terracotta façade anchors the left, and the Hôtel de Paris and other West End establishments crowd the background; a sign for "Leona" is legible at far right. The caption notes that Leicester Square was "the centre of London's cosmopolitanism" and that "the residents of the surrounding district are mainly French" — a charming Edwardian characterisation of what was already the city's entertainment heartland. Published under the "National Series" trademark, this pristine unused card dates to approximately 1910–1914 and carries a pencilled dealer price of $3.00.
