A luminous black-and-white snapshot of a broad tropical lake — still water catching a white sky, lush vegetation crowding the far shore, and hazy mountains rising behind — anchors this rare real-photo postcard mailed from Honduras in April 1941. A faint pencilled note at the lower right of the photo reads what appears to be a location notation. The sender, signing as what reads like "Ren" or "Ben," dashes off an irresistibly human message to "Dear Folks": "This is wonderful and is going to end too soon. Will be at Hotel Roosevelt, New Orleans next Tues. for four days." The card carries two Honduras stamps — a 1-centavo Cruz Roja Hondureña (Red Cross) charity stamp issued by Decree 666, 4 Feb 1941, and a 21-centavo Correo Aéreo (airmail) blue definitive bearing the Honduran coat of arms — making the franking itself a small philatelic document of a country mobilising wartime charity just months before Pearl Harbor. Addressed to Mr. & Mrs. D.E. at 3213 No. 4th St., Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA.
