Antique & Vintage Postcards

A lone steam ferry cuts across the vivid blue waters of Lake Como toward the terracotta-roofed promontory of Menaggio, rendered in the luminous chromolithographic palette that made early twentieth-century Italian lake-district postcards so prized — ochre mountains, a blush-pink sky, and a stone-pine silhouetted dramatically at left. Published by Cesare Capello of Milan, one of Italy's most respected postcard houses, this unused card presents the panoramic view from above Menaggio with the snow-capped Alps dissolving into haze in the distance. The reverse carries a dealer's rubber stamp reading "Extra" and a penciled "79," with Cesare Capello's oval publisher's emboss at the foot — a mark of quality chromolithographic production from the 1910s–1920s.
