Antique & Vintage Postcards

Perched high above Cardigan Bay, this hand-coloured real-photo postcard captures Aberystwyth in its Edwardian-resort prime — the sweeping promenade curving past the pier pavilion, ancient castle ruins tumbling into the foreground, and the grand Victorian seafront terrace glowing against the Welsh hillside. Mailed on 10 August 1935, it carries the warm voice of a traveller named Lou writing to family back in Johnstown, Pennsylvania: "Dear Brother & Sister, we are here for a couple of weeks, it's a lovely place, we intend to go back next week. Hope you are all well. Love to all. Sister Lou." The Excel Series card (C35) was printed in Great Britain and addressed to a Mrs. John Thomas on Pallsin Street, Southmont — a transatlantic snapshot of a Welsh holiday cherished enough to post across an ocean.
