Antique & Vintage Postcards

A gleaming aluminum trailer brimming with brilliant orange citrus dominates the foreground as a worker guides a mechanical loader at the edge of a dense Florida grove — this chrome-era promotional card captures the postwar industrial optimism of the Sunshine State's most famous export at full harvest roar. Issued by the Minute Maid Company and photographed by Bob Leahey, the image documents the mechanized revolution in Florida citrus harvesting during the 1950s, when Minute Maid (then a subsidiary of the Coca-Cola Company's precursor operations) was transforming orange juice from a seasonal luxury into a year-round staple via frozen concentrate. The "3-D Natural Color Reproduction" Curteich process lends the oranges an almost candy-bright luminescence that was itself a marketing statement. A rare example of a corporate-commissioned agricultural postcard with both photographer credit and brand identification.
