Postcard Linen Garden of the Gods Gateway Pikes Peak Colorado 1930s

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA1930LinenFair-Good

Towering red sandstone sentinels frame a breathtaking natural gateway at Colorado Springs' Garden of the Gods, with the snow-capped summit of Pikes Peak floating serenely in the distance — a composition so perfectly balanced it almost looks painted. This linen-era card, numbered 5229, showcases the vivid hand-applied color palette that made the Garden of the Gods one of the most-photographed landscapes in the American West. The text on the reverse describes the stone formations as "eccentric sculpture" weathered into "fantastic forms," and notes that the Garden's reputation had spread "round the world." A pure white rock formation in the middle ground provides striking contrast against the deep crimson of the gateway towers. The card is unused and presents well, with only minor edge wear from storage.
